KIDS HOPE

One Child. One Mentor. One hour a week.

Kids Hope is Australia’s largest early intervention primary school-based mentoring program that involves churches partnering with local primary schools within their district. The Rocks Church partners with nearby Cannington Community College to deliver the Kids Hope Program, which involves church volunteers spending one hour per week mentoring students from the College.

Why should I get involved in mentoring?

Because it is biblical. ‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to give you hope and a future’. Jeremiah 29:11

I don’t have any experience, so can I still become a mentor?

Absolutely. Free training will be provided to you to develop your confidence and mentoring skills. You just need to be able to commit to volunteer at the College one hour per week anytime during normal school hours (i.e. Monday to Friday between 9am-3pm).

Does the Church have many mentors now and what has been their experiences?

We currently have less than 10 mentors. The College has many kids who are waiting for a mentor, so join our team today. See the testimonials below from some of our mentors.

‘I love being a mentor as it’s so rewarding, and it makes a real difference to kids in the community that need some hope.’

‘The student that I mentor is in Year 6 and his face lights up every time we see each other.’

‘I have been a mentor for 2 years and I have seen my child grow in many ways. She has become more confident; her self-esteem has blossomed; and she now has belief in herself for the future.’
