Publicly sharing your faith in Jesus
Baptism is a special opportunity to publicly share your faith in Jesus. Through baptism, thousands have shared their stories of how following Jesus has transformed their lives and made them better at life. We’d love to help you take this step and see how God can use your story to inspire and impact others.
Why get baptised?
Matthew, an eyewitness to Jesus’ life, recorded some of the final words Jesus spoke to His closest followers after His resurrection, just before He ascended into heaven:
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” (Matthew 28:18–20)
In these powerful words, Jesus instructed His disciples to share His message with everyone, to baptise those who come to believe in Him, and to teach them how to live in obedience to His teachings.
If Jesus directed His disciples to baptise new followers, it leads us to the important question: What does it mean to be baptised?

Three things we believe about baptism
1. Baptism is a Public Declaration of a New Association.
Baptism is a way of publicly saying, "I'm going public with who I'm identifying with." When we are baptised, we are associating ourselves with the message and the person of Jesus Christ.
Before beginning His public ministry, Jesus was baptised by His cousin, John—often referred to as John the Baptist. John preached repentance and surrender to God, baptising those who believed in a river as a symbol of their commitment.
When Jesus came to be baptised by John, John declared to his followers, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29).
Through His baptism, Jesus aligned Himself with John's message of repentance and faith.

2. Baptism is a Personal Declaration of a New Association.
Baptism is a personal declaration of a decision to follow Jesus.
One of the most well-known verses in the Bible is:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
We summarise this powerful verse with eight simple words to capture the essence of faith in Jesus:
God initiated salvation because of His great love for us. When we trust in Jesus's death and resurrection, we receive the gift of new life and the promise of eternal life with Him.
This is what it means to be saved. When we are baptised, we are publicly declaring our new identity as followers of Jesus.

3. Baptism is Not a Condition of Salvation; It's Evidence of Salvation.
We believe that a person is saved first and then baptised. Baptism is an outward evidence of an inward decision to become a follower of Jesus.Baptism does not make our salvation official; it's a way to demonstrate the decision we've already made to follow Jesus.
Have you been baptised since deciding to follow Jesus? If not, what's holding you back? We'd love to help you take this next step.
Don't let another season of your life go by being a follower of Jesus without following His command to be baptised.
You'll find that while your baptism is deeply personal, it has the power to impact others. Someone's faith might be inspired when you take this bold step to publicly declare your faith.
