Safe Church.

Our Commitment

At The Rocks Church, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Our leadership, staff, and volunteers uphold the highest standards of care and accountability, ensuring every individual can engage with our community in safety and confidence.

We follow the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and relevant Western Australian laws to protect those in our care from harm, abuse, or neglect. Our policies apply to all The Rocks Church locations, ministries, events, and online spaces.

Reporting a Concern

If you have witnessed or experienced something concerning involving the safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable person at The Rocks, we encourage you to report it.

You can make a report anonymously or by name. All reports are treated seriously and confidentially.

Anyone — including parents, children, volunteers, guests, or members of the community — can report a concern. You do not need to be part of our church to submit a report.

In Case of Immediate Danger

If a child or person is in immediate danger, please call 000 and notify the police directly.

You may also contact the Department of Communities – Child Protection and Family Support on 1800 273 889 (24/7).

Preventative Measures

We don’t just respond to concerns — we actively work to prevent harm before it happens. At The Rocks, child safety is built into our culture, systems, and daily ministry practices. Here are just a few of the ways we keep our church safe:

1. Screening and Checks
  • All staff and volunteers working with children or vulnerable people must hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • A National Police Clearance is required for certain leadership roles and pastoral staff as part of our risk management process

2. Mandatory Training
Everyone involved in ministry with children completes safeguarding training, including how to recognise, respond to, and prevent abuse.

3. Safe Environments
  • We follow a two-adult rule — no one-on-one unsupervised time with children.
  • Ministry spaces are designed with clear visibility, open doors, and regular supervision.
  • Online communication is supervised and monitored.

4. Clear Behaviour Standards
Our staff and volunteers agree to a Code of Conduct that defines appropriate behaviour, boundaries, and communication with children.

5. Anonymous Reporting
We offer confidential and anonymous ways to report concerns online — open to families, visitors, and children.

6. Child-to-Child Support
We take harmful or inappropriate behaviour between children seriously and provide support to everyone involved while keeping all children safe.

We Are a Child Safe Organisation

The Rocks Church affirms the rights of all children to be safe, listened to, and respected. We stand with survivors of abuse and are committed to transparency, justice, and healing.
