What should we do when church leaders disappoint us—or when spiritual authority has been abused?

In John 10, Jesus doesn’t ask us to blindly trust religious leaders. Instead, he gives us a picture of trustworthy spiritual leadership by calling himself the Good Shepherd: the shepherd who knows his sheep, protects them and willingly lays down his life for them.

In this message, Daniel explores Jesus’ vision for a healthy church: trustworthy shepherds who feed, protect and care for God’s people; willing people who trust, follow and participate; and Jesus remaining the Chief Shepherd over everyone. Rather than choosing between abusive authority and isolated independence, we’re invited to become a healthy flock centred on Jesus.
